Warriors' Stephen Curry climbs NBA's all-time scoring list, moving to milestone spot

· 5 min read

Steph Curry is an all-time great, a fact everyone knows about the Golden State Warriors' legendary marksman.

He continues to make that case with each and every bit of history he makes.

The latest came on Sunday, when Curry scored 26 points (with seven assists and four steals) in a convincing win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Curry shot just 7-for-18 from the floor and 3-for-10 from 3, but he made all 9 of his free throw attempts.

And this bit of NBA history was dependent just on his point total of 26.

Curry entered the day 24 points behind John Havlicek on the all-time scoring list.

Now, Curry is ahead of Havlicek with 26,397 points and counting.

Havlicek had resided at 20th all-time in scoring. Now that's Curry's spot.

And really, Curry is now tied with Paul Pierce, who also had that total of 26,397 points in his regular season career.

So the next time Curry scores, he'll move ahead of Pierce.

There are a handful of other players that scored more than 26,000 but less than 27,000 points in their NBA careers, all of whom Curry could potentially pass soon:

  • Tim Duncan 26,496

  • Dominique Wilkins 26,668

  • Oscar Robertson 26,710

  • Russell Westbrook 26,917

  • Hakeem Olajuwon 26,946

This is a sign that there's more history to be made by Curry in short order. At this point, that's just what he does.
